[Also in GroupXXXIX] An ultrasonic probe com prises two contact mem bers 1, 2 separated by an air gap which acts as an acoustic screen betweer them, two transducers, such as piezo-electric crystals 34 35, associated with the contact members, and an electrical screen, such as a brass plate 25, between the twc transducers. A portion of the brass plate 25 is cut away and replaced by brass foil 31 between the contact members 1, 2.
