Abstract
913,686. Horns. BEYER, E. Dec. 29, 1958 [Dec. 27, 1957], No. 41949/58. Class 13. [Also in Group XXXIX] An exponential loud-speaker horn is formed over at least a part of its length by one or more plane walls 21, Figs. 3, 4, or 33, 34, Figs. 5, 6, and a portion 20 or 30 formed as a surface of revolution. The axis of the surface of revolution coincides with the plane wall 21 or with the intersection of the walls 33, 34. The plane walls extend beyond the mouth of the horn for at least a quarter of a wavelength at the lowest frequency the horn is designed to transmit. The transducer 10 may be electrodynamic, electromagnetic, electrostatic, piezo - electric, thermic or ionic. In one embodiment, Figs. 7, 9, the axes of horn portion 30 falls on the intersection of walls 33, 34. A horn portion L is offset to permit connection of the transducer 38. In Fig. 11, the horn 45 is re-entrant and has a horizontal axis. In Fig. 12, the reentrant horn 45 has a vertical axis. In Fig. 14 a guide member 72 deflects the woven into a horizontal pattern.
