[Class 13] [Also in Group XXXIX] A cabinet containing a loud-speaker 21, Fig. 4, has louvres 1, of which a longitudinal view is given in Fig. 3, designed to concentrate the sound energy in a given direction. Acoustic screens 12, 13 may be provided in order to separate the loud-speaker from the amplifier &c. and to close the short path 15 for sound from the rear surface of the loud-speaker and lengthen the equivalent path between the two faces of the diaphragm. In a modification, Fig. 5, two walls 19, 20 form a phase changer to bring the waves from the rear of the loud-speaker into phase with those from the front. An alternative form of phase changer comprises two pipes, Fig. 6 (not shown).
