Abstract
625,014. Microphones. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and CRAGG, W. D. Dec. 11, 1945, No. 33461. [Class 40 (iv)] An acoustic ribbon diaphragm is made of thermoplastic material and comprises a central stiff portion and an outer flexible portion whose inner edges can vibrate with the central stiff portion while the outer edges of the flexible portion are stiff. In the example shown, portions of the thermoplastic ribbon 4 are rendered flexible by corrugation, while the central stiff portion is provided with an aluminium electrode 6. The ribbon instead of being approximately straight as shown, may be bent up to an apex in the middle or into an S-bend. Specification 625,013 is referred to.
