Abstract

717,222. Ceramic crystals. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Sept. 26, 1952 [Oct. 8, 1951], No. 24211/52. Class 40 (4) [Also in Group XL (b)] A sub-aqueous trans ducer comprises a ceramic crystal with a number of pairs o juxtaposed electrode: arranged in a series circuit. A bariun titanate ring 13 is mounted in a sound absorbent mass 15 in side a casing 10 closed by a sound-transparent window 11. The ring abuts against a steel cylinder 14 and the casing is otherwise filled with a liquid 16. The inner and outer electrodes 17, 18 are divided into two parts and connected electrically as seen at 25a in Fig. 4, so that the impedance is four times that of the usual element seen at 25b. In Fig. 4, which is a circuit arrangement suitable for an arrangement of six elements 25b arranged symmetrically round one element 25a, the power dissipated by each element is the same and the impedance of the circuit is <SP>4</SP>/ 7 that of one of the elements 25b.
