Class 82(2) [Also in Group XL(a)] A substance to be vaporized, such as getter material 4, is supported in a wound conductor 3 which forms an electrical connection across a slit 2 in an otherwise surrounding conductive cylinder 1. The winding 3 is at the centre of the cylinder preferably at right angles to its axis, and can thus be fired by inducing h.f. currents in the cylinder. A mica baffl 5 can be placed against one end of the cylinder.
