766,555. Valve casings. NEWMAN, HENDER & CO., Ltd. Dec. 14, 1954 [Dec. 22, 1953], No. 35672(53. Class 135. The casing of a valve includes a body 11 and a bonnet 12 through which the actuating stem of the valve passes, and the joint between the body and the bonnet is made leakproof by providing in the body a chamfered seating 18 and a recess 19 to co-operate with, respectively, a convex shoulder 22 and a collar 20 on the bonnet. A gasket may be provided between recess 19 and collar 20. A union nut 13 screwing on to the body clamps the bonnet in position.
