Abstract
766,176. Roll holders; cartons. WENNBERG, B. E. Oct. 8, 1954, No. 29047/54. Class 18. A blank comprising panels 1 .. 5, Fig. 1, defined by creases, is folded as shown in Fig. 4 to form a holder for a roll of bandage 8, the panel 5 which underlies the lid 4 being secured to the panel 3 by a glued flap 10 and formed with a slot 11 through which the end of the bandage passes into a passage defined by this panel and the lid 4. The blank is first folded to form a sleeve and the bandage is then introduced from the end at which the slot is open, after which flaps 6 and 7 are folded to form end closures. The lid 4 may be opened or closed by swinging about its line of connection to the panel 3 and is provided with side flaps 7a which are engaged under the end closures. Portions 16 of these flaps have arcuate peripheries which are eccentric to the hinge axis of the lid so that complete opening thereof is prevented. In a modification the panel 5 is provided with a flap having a flared opening leading to the slot 11 to facilitate the insertion of the end of the bandage. In a further modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the slot is replaced by a slit with a curved end so that the portion of the panel 5 adjacent the flap 10 forms a resilient tongue which brakes the withdrawal of the bandage.
