762,990. Washing machines. HOBBS TRANSMISSION, Ltd. March 7, 1955 [March 5, 1954], No. 6490/54. Class 138 (2). [Also in Group XXIV] A driving arrangement for the drum of a washing machine comprises a driving pulley 11 which houses epicyclic gearing (see Group XXIV), to provide a drive of a driven shaft 26 coupled to the washing drum which is automatically reversed after a predetermined number of revolutions in each directions or automatically varied from zero to a predetermined value. The drive may also be controlled by the door of the machine so that on opening the door a pin 82 is actuated to stop the drive. For spin drying the pin 82 may be pushed in further to lock the gear solid for a higher speed drive.
