Abstract

762,598. Pneumatic conveyers. LODGECOTTRELL, Ltd. April 28, 1955 [March 12, 1954], No. 7337/54. Class 78 (1). A flap valve for use in an air-lock hopper comprises a flap 3 and a counterweighted lever arm 8 mounted on a shaft 4 so as to have limited relative rotation, the arrangement being such that the flap opens under the action of gravity when the weight 11 is raised and closes when the weight is lowered. The flap 3 is mounted on a shaft 4 which has an enlargement 5 formed with a pair of flats 6. These flats co-operate with a similar pair of flats 10 formed on the raised part 9 of a boss 8a which is formed on the lever 8 and is rotatable on the shaft 4. The enlargement 5 may be a boss which is keyed to the shaft 4 and is formed on a counterweighted lever 7. Each lever 8 has an arm 14 which carries a roller 13. These rollers are in the path of a cam 12 carried on a power-driven shaft 19.
