Abstract

923,603. Pneumatic conveyers; discharging from hoppers. DAVIDSON & CO. Ltd. Dec. 6, 1961, No. 43752/61. Class 78 (1). In a rotary feed valve for discharging solid material from hoppers &c., in which a rotor 11, Fig. 2, is mounted on a vertical axis 14 between upper and lower fixed plates 12, 13 and has spaced axial pockets 22 by which material is carried from an inlet 30 in the upper plate 12 to an outlet 27 in the lower plate 13, the inlet 30 opens over the upper surface of the rotor 11 out of registration with the pockets 22 and the upper plate 12 has a duct 33, Fig. 3, extending generally in the direction of rotation of the rotor into registration with the pockets 22 so that the material is swept over the surface of the rotor and falls into the pockets 22. The duct 33 has a vertically adjustable gate 35 for controlling the feed rate. The plates 12, 13 are yieldingly engaged with the side faces of the rotor 11 by means of springs 20 on attachment bolts 18. The valve may be used in a pneumatic conveying system, an inlet 38 being provided to blow the material into the conveyer line 27, 28.
