Abstract

1,038,962. Pneumatic conveyers. MURFITT (BULK TRANSPORTERS) Ltd. Dec. 20, 1962 [Dec. 20, 1961], No. 45715/61. Heading B8A. A rotary pocketed discharger for granular or pulverulent material has a restricted air inlet 10, Fig. 2, at one end through which air is directed in a direction generally parallel to the rotor axis to carry the material to the outlet 18. The inlet 10 may be restricted by a baffle 11 and additional air may be introduced through a branch inlet 12 above the baffle. Further air may be introduced through a porous plate 14 at the base. Air may also be introduced at the bearings 15 to prevent entry of material. The chamber 10 preferably has a volume approximately the same as that of a rotor pocket 4 and is offset to one side of the vertical centre line of the casing 1. The rotor 3 has end plates 6 and the blades may be tipped with synthetic resin. The casing 1 is provided with a liner 5, Fig. 1 (not shown). The device may be driven via a reversible hydraulic drive with provision for automatic reverse in the event of clogging.
