Abstract
1410345 Hoppers feeding endless conveyers COWLISHAW WALKER & CO Ltd and J BROWN 27 Feb 1974 [30 Nov 1972] 55467/72 Headings B8A and B8S An outlet hopper 10 extending alongside and arranged to feed, an endless conveyer 16, comprises an outlet 15 controlled by an adjustable flap 20. The latter is slidable in a slot 19 and pins 25 fit selectively into holes (9) (Fig. 3, not shown) of the flap to select the size of the outlet 15 required. There are a plurality of flaps 20 mounted side by side along the length of the hopper. In operation, all the flaps 20 may be opened to a degree which results in the conveyed material blocking the outlet 15 except at one end of the hopper. The conveyer may be driven at fixed speed through a fluid coupling and gear-box. Alternatively it may be driven at a variable speed through an hydraulic motor. The latter may be powered by an electrically driven variable outlet pump, or by a fixed output pump with a flow divider.
