762,438. Dry shavers. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Oct. 1, 1954 [Oct. 5, 1953], No. 28346/54. Class 131. A dry shaver comprises an apertured shear plate and a co-operating cutter, the cutter being immovable in a direction away from the shear plate and the shear plate being adapted for free movement in a direction towards and away from the cutter. As shown, a tubular part 5 of an apertured shear plate 4 is an accurate fit in a tubular member 2 having an end plate 10 screwthreaded into a housing 1, axial movement of the part 5 being guided by interengaging slots 15 and projections 14. A circular disc cutter 6 having cutting edges 7 is driven by a shaft 8 rotating in a bush 11 in the endplate 10 and is journalled by balls 9. Balls 13 and an abutment 12 prevent upward movement of the shaft. In a modification the housing and shear plate are channelled and the cutter is reciprocated.
