Abstract
762,078. Induction machines. MUIRHEAD & CO., Ltd. Sept. 4, 1953 [Sept. 10, 1952], No. 22736/52. Class 35. An induction generator comprises a stator having two 90 degree apart windings, one for excitation and the other for output, a sleeve rotor of conductive material mounted concentrically in the stator, a magnetic cylindrical fixed core located concentrially in the sleeve, and a magnetic shunt to correct the errors due to the machine residual voltage. The magnetic shunt may be mounted so as to be adjusted axially and/or angularly with respect to the stator and positioned between the stator coil ends with the tips of the shunt adjacent the stator teeth. Fig. 3 shows a stator 2 of an induction generator, a non-magnetic sleeve mounted on a spindle 5a and carrying an angularly adjustable magnetic shunt 6, and a fixed inner magnetic cylindrical core 1 carrying a magnetic shunt 4 which can be adjusted angularly and axially. Alternatively, either or both shunts may consist of a plurality of substantially similarly members held together and arranged as shown in Figs. 4, 5; also the two shunts shown may be secured to the rotor, after the correct position has been found.
