Abstract
891,482. Induction generators. VATRIC (CONTROL EQUIPMENT) Ltd. July 9, 1958 [July 9, 1957], No. 21722/57. Class 35. An induction generator has two concentric stators between which a drag-cup 3 rotates, the inner stator which carries the generating windings 5 being arranged to shunt the flux generated by the field coils 2 in the outer stator so that no voltage is generated when the cup is not rotating. Each inner pole-shoe I.P. bridges two outer pole-shoes O.P. so that when the machine is at rest the field flux traverses path m, n, o, p shown in solid lines. Rotation of the cup displaces some of the flux into the quadrature circuit q, r, s, t shown in broken lines, so that it links the generating coils 5. The inner and outer stators may be reversed. The two stators may be relatively rotated for adjustment.
