Abstract
761,850. Travelling-wave tubes; magnetrons. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. June 29, 1953 [June 28, 1952], No. 33619/55. Divided out of 761,768. Class 39(1). [Also in Group XL(b)] A ladder type delay line for use in microwave tubes has the ends of at least one set of alternate rungs 2<11> bent at right angles ; the ends of the two sets of alternate rungs 2<1>, 2<11> are secured to different surfaces. By lengthening the paths of circulating currents between neighbouring circuits, the magnetic coupling is reduced relative to the electric coupling and the pass band is widened. Both sets of rungs may have bent ends in the same or opposite directions. The line may be used in travelling wave tubes of forward or backward wave type, with or without a crossed magnetic field and of linear or circular construction. A closed circular line may constitute the anode system of an ordinary magnetron. It is stated that strapping is not necessary.
