761,090. Measuring curvature electrically. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. Jan. 28, 1955 [March 8, 1954], No. 6698/54. Class 40 (1). A gauge for measuring curvature comprises a hard metallic cylinder 11 (Figs. 1, 2) on whose surface are located three balls 10 defining the corners of an isosceles triangle 15, retained in position by a sleeve 12, and a capacity probe 16 located on the line joining the apex to the midpoint of the base, as shown in the centre of the base. A curved metallic surface 21 to be tested is placed on the three balls 10 and the capacity between the probe 16 and the surface 21 is taken by a screened lead 19 to a capacity bridge 20 and measured. The balls 10 may alternatively be short cylinders. The surface 21 may be concave as shown, or convex with the balls 10 on a concave surface.
