Abstract

760,535. Boring-heads; mounting chucks. DIXI SOC. ANON. Aug. 6, 1954 [Aug. 28, 1953], No. 22875/54. Class 83 (3). A tool-holder, particularly for attachment to the hollow spindle of horizontal boring-andfacing machines, comprises two parts; a toolholding part being quickly detachable, in the direction of the spindle axis, from the other part which is secured to the hollow spindle. The second part comprises a short bar 2 having a flange 3 secured by screws 9 to the hollowspindle 8. Strengthening webs 5 are provided between the bar and flange. The tool-holder 18 fits on the end of the shaft and is keyed thereto at 28. A spigot 12 within the tool-holder 18 locates it against the end of the shaft 2. A quick-release clamping-device 15 enables the tool-holder to be changed for another. In a modification, the tool-holder is in two parts with the tool radially adjustable on a slide on the end-face of the holder-part. The shaft 2 may be tapered to fit a tapered socket in the toolholding part and the latter may be arranged as a chuck for taking other tools or measuring devices.
