Abstract

This machining method uses a turning principle and avoids demounting the workpiece during operation. It consists in mounting the piece of a support which can revolve about an axis which is orthogonal to the axis of the drilling to be made the piece may thus be pierced at one of its ends, then turned over by rotation through 180 DEG of its support, with drilling continuing at the other end. The device comprises a baseplate (6) fixed to the machine tool, a support (7) mounted to revolve on the baseplate (6), with a chuck (10) for clamping the piece. The support (7) may be locked in two positions which are separated from each other by a rotation of 180 DEG . Application to drilling right through and also to boring or making centres at the ends of a piece.
