Abstract
757,913. Hinges. JOHNSON GAGE DEVELOPMENT CO. July 23, 1953, No. 20431/53. Class 65 (2). [Also in Group XIX] The pivot stud 16 for a linear - dimension gauge member 18 has a cylindrical bearing surface 25, and a squared end surface 26 accurately finished with respect to surface 25; the stud being secured to a frame 10 by means which comprise a screw - threaded hole 28 in the stud extending to the squared end of the latter. As shown, surface 26 abuts a finished surface 12 on the base, and a bolt 29 passes through the latter and screws into hole 28 to clamp the stud and base together. A spring washer 36 encircles the bolt and bears outwardly against aligned cavities in the stud and base. Member 18 is held in place by the head of a screw 33 which is engaged in hole 38, and the latter may be eccentric with respect to surface 25. In a modification a pin projecting inwardly from member 18 engages a circumferential groove in the stud. In a further modification said inwardly-projecting pin engages a helical groove in the stud to produce axial movement of the member 18 when the latter is rotated.
