A liquid carbon-dioxide container E from which gas or liquid may be discharged through a valved duct K has means for indicating a predetermined amount of liquid charge e.g., a spring-loaded carrier L and a micro-switch M controlling an alarm bell and is charged with liquid carbon-dioxide from one or more reservoirs A 1 , A 2 , A 3 through a valved manifold D and a refrigerator F by which the container E is maintained at a lower temperature than the reservoirs A 1 , A 2 , Aa. The container E is cooled prior to charging and discharging by blowing off carbon-dioxide gas through a valve N, and the refrigerator F may also cool the delivery duct K.
