Abstract

756,755. Converting. MALLORY & CO., Inc., P. R. Jan. 26, 1954 [Jan. 29, 1953], No. 2313/54 Class 38 (2) An inverting circuit energized from a battery 14 comprises a vibratory interrupter 13 connected to a transformer 20 having a core 27 with two limbs which carry respectively primary and secondary windings 21, 23 and primary and secondary windings 22, 24. The coupling between the windings of each pair is tight compared with the loose coupling between the primary windings 21, 22. Two buffer capacitors 25, 26 are connected in series across the secondary winding output terminals 32, 34 and a resistor 29 is connected between the common terminals of the capacitors and transformer secondary windings. The output to the load 44 may be rectified by dry metal, or gas discharge rectifiers 30, 31 or by further contacts on the vibrator, Fig. 3 (not shown). The transformer core may be either of the core or of the shell types, Figs. 4, 5 (not shown). By this arrangement the contact-make current surge is suppressed without substantial increase of the contact-break voltage surge.
