Abstract

725,290. Transformer arrangements. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Jan. 20, 1953 [Feb. 6, 1952], No. 1654/53. Classes 38 (2) and 38 (4). A three-phase transformer has three sets of delta connected windings 11, 12, 13; 15, 16, 17; 19, 20, 21 connected between the three line terminals 10, 14, 18 and the neutral point 22. Thus the neutral point is stabilized without the use of the normal additional idle delta winding. Such a winding arrangement forms a composite star and delta system conductively associated with each other, and includes in each phase an element common to the star and delta portions of the system. The reactances of the various windings are chosen such that each element carries the desired portion of current associated with any terminal to give the chosen stabilizing capacity. In other embodiments the three delta connected sets of windings may be connected to the neutral point through a normal star connected winding or to the line terminals through such a winding. The arrangement may form the high or low voltage side of the transformer.
