Abstract
602,295. Converting. RIACH, D.. Nov. 24, 1945, No. 31770. [Class 38 (ii)] Apparatus for converting D.C. from a low voltage, for use in a portable radio receiver, amplifier, or like device, comprises a voltage doubling arrangement consisting of a vibrator with a reed d provided with a pair of contacts a connected across the primary winding m of a transformer, and another pair b connected across the outer terminals q, r of two series connected condensers s, t, the junction p of the condensers being connected to one end of the transformer secondary winding n which has its other end connected by a lead to the metal reed d. The low voltage D.C. source, such as a battery f, is connected between the reed and the mid-point of the primary winding m. The load L is connected across the condenser terminals q, r. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown) the connection between the primary and secondary windings through the reed is obviated by providing the reed with a parallel vibrator mounted on a rigid insulating stud at its outer end, the main portion of the reed being associated with the contacts a and the parallel portion with the contacts b.
