662,077. Converting. ELTRON, Inc. April 14, 1949 [May 1, 1948], No. 10212/49. Drawings to Specification. Class 38 (ii). In a system for converting a low direct voltage to a high direct voltage and comprising a vibrator energizing the two parts of the transformer primary, a voltage doubling circuit included in the transformer output circuit and comprising a pair of series connected condensers charged alternately over further and synchronized contacts on the vibrator such that the output voltage taken from across the two condensers is equal to the sum of the respective condenser voltages, a further condenser is connected across the secondary winding to reduce sparking at the vibrator contacts. One end of the transformer secondary is connected to the junction of the condensers whilst the other end is connected to a reed contact cooperating alternately with a pair of fixed contacts connected to the output terminals. The vibrator reed may carry two contacts. each co-operating with a pair of fixed contacts, Alternatively the vibrator may have two reeds, mechanically coupled, and each carrying a contact co-operating with a pair of fixed contacts thereby permitting a common ground connection for a terminal of the input (battery) and output.
