Abstract
752,885. Induction heating. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Jan. 7, 1954 [Jan. 10, 1953], No. 471/54. Class 39(3). An inductor consists of a liquid-tight boxshaped structure 6 with current feed connectors 5, 8 connected to opposite upper edges, and the workpiece 10 to be heated is moved adjacent the connector 8. The edges 9 may have inwardly directed flanges and the box may be frusto-conical in cross section, or it may be cylindrical or spherical in shape. One or both of the connectors may be hollow for the passage of coolant which may flow into the structure and, when the inductor is inverted, onto the workpiece. The structure may include a core.
