Abstract

752,744. Stabilizing ships. SUBERKRUB, F. A. Sept. 29, 1954, No. 28106/54. Class 113. In a device for damping the rolling movement of ships comprising extensible and retractable foils or stabilizers 1 each rotatably mounted on two movable transverse members 3, 4, a separate driving means is provided for rotating each stabilizer and is extended and retracted with its associated stabilizer. The stabilizer 1 fixed to the shaft 2 rotatably mounted in the transverse members 3, 4 guided on rails 5, 6 is moved in and out relative to the ship's side 7 by known means. The rotating means shown in Fig. 3 comprises a lever 11 fixed on the shaft 2 and having a block 12 to which is fixed a rod 13 carrying pistons 14, 15 moving in cylinders 16, 17. The pistons can be operated by steam, compressed air, water or other medium, the supply of which may be effected by valves controlled by a,gyroscope.
