Abstract

752.329. Pistons. LENTING, L. Dec. 23, 1954 [Dec. 24, 1953], No. 37183/54. Class 122(1) The bearing surface 1 of a piston is provided with two series of grooves 4, 5 having a maximum depth of one millimetre and arranged as multiple helical threads of opposite hand. The grooves, which are stated to act as oil collecting grooves and reduct oil consumption, are of saw-tooth cross section and extend from the lower edge of the piston to a circumferential groove 2 adjacent the bottom piston ring groove 3.
