Abstract
750,715. Mineral-mining apparatus. OELLRICH, A. [trading as MASCHINENFABRIK UND EISENGIESSEREI A. BEIEN]. Feb. 16, 1954 [Feb. 21, 1953], No. 4551/54. Class 68(1) Screwed to the plough blade carrier 5 of a plough so as to extend from the vertically disposed blade or blades 6 along and outwards of the carrier are means 7, 7a for cutting a preliminary kerf in the face. The means 7, 7a comprise cutting tools 7a detachably connected to or integral with one or two bars 7, each mounted in a recess 8 in the carrier 5 pivotally mounted on a base 2. The cutting tools 7a are so arranged along the bar or bars 7 that a line or lines drawn through the effective cutting tips thereof is or are inclined towards the blade or blades 6 at an acute angle # to the surface of the carrier 5 adjacent the working face. Each bar 7 may be situated at or above floor level, and the mineral detached by the cutters 7a passes through channels in the underside of each bar 7 and through a conduit extending through the carrier 5. Each bar 7 may be shiftable transversly relative to the carrier to which it is hingedly secured in the recess 8 at the end adjacent the blade 6. In the embodiment having two bars 7, the adjacent ends are connected by a fixed pin 4 on the base 2 and a threaded pin 9 extends between the carrier 5 and the pin 4 and permits of adjustment of the bars 7 in respect of the carrier 5 whilst the carrier may pivot about the pin 4.
