749,088. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Aug. 24, 1953 [Aug. 22, 1952], No. 23295/53. Class 35. A fan motor has an enclosing casing 7 terminating at its front in one or more openings 8 which are substantially covered by a hub 5 carrying the fan blades 6 and also carrying auxiliary fan blades 12 or 13 (Fig. 4), facing the openings 8. The auxiliary blades create a current of air through the casing by way of the front openings 8 and rear openings 9 so as to cool the motor. The auxiliary blades may be radial as shown at 13 or curved as at 12.
