Abstract
845,750. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Feb. 15, 1957 [Feb. 23, 1956], No. 5593/56. Class 35. Baffles are provided on rotary salient pole members to cause air to be circulated through the interpolar spaces. In Fig. 1 the right-hand deflector 16 intercepts air and causes it to flow over the field coils 12 in a path determined by baffles 14 and the air travels axially along the interpolar space before returning to the air gap at left-hand deflector 16. In Fig. 3 the interpolar space is closed by baffles 20 having axially spaced inlets 21 and outlets 22.
