Class 35 In an eddy-current brake of the type where the rotor and stator are mounted side-by-side, the stator coils are made to have an elongated section so as to provide cooling air passages between them. Fig. 2 shows such coils 5a with the long axes in a radial direction and the air passages are indicated at 9. Air is circulated by blades 6 fitted on the rotor 1, Fig. 1 (not shown).
