Abstract
746,014. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. July 1, 1954- [July 1, 1953], No. 19353/54. Class 35. A squirrel-cage rotor has end-rings 16 cast integrally with a fan 17 and with the rotor bars, and the ring 16 has a surface 19 so shaped that the cooling air entering the apertures 11 is led past the stator windings 3 to be discharged through radial apertures 12. Both the inlet and discharge apertures 11, 12 are positioned respectively axially and radially in the end cover 5. An air baffle 13 is secured to the end cover and it has such a shape that it acts as a guide between the incoming and outgoing air. The other end of the motor can be similarly constructed so as to provide a parallel ventila. tion system.
