[Class 35] A machine has circumferential fins on its casing completely exposed to the atmosphere and a fan on the machine shaft blows over the casing a current of air having a circumferential as well as an axial component of velocity. In the form shown, fans 1, 1<a> are provided, each in a cowling, for blowing air over the casing 3 in opposite directions. A single fan may be used. The fins may be cast on the casing or may be formed as hoops welded to the casing.
