Abstract

A lubricating composition comprises 0.5-2 per cent of an aluminium soap of a C14 to C22 saturated fatty acid, 24.5 to 48 per cent of powdered graphite and a mixture of asphalt with a mineral lubricating oil, which mixture has a viscosity of 1000 to 2500 S.S.U. at 100 DEG F. Soaps specified are those of stearic and hydrogenated fish oil acids. The composition preferably contains 20-25 per cent mineral lubricating oil and 30-50 per cent asphalt. The lubricating oil may be a naphthenic oil. Antioxidants and E.P. additives may be added to the composition.ALSO:A lubricating composition comprises 0.5-2 per cent of an aluminium soap of a C14 to C22 saturated fatty acid, 24.5 to 48 per cent of powdered graphite and a mixture of asphalt with a mineral lubricating oil, which mixture has a viscosity of 1000 to 2500 S.S.U. at 100 DEG F.
