Abstract
747,688. Steam separators. MITCHELL ENGINEERING, Ltd., and COLES, H. J. Aug. 16, 1954 [Sept. 29, 1953], No. 26774/53. Class 123(3). A steam and water separating device mounted in the drum of a water-tube boiler comprises a baffle plate 13, 14, 15 extending longitudinally through the drum with its upper edge spaced apart from the inner periphery thereof, steam-water mixture entering the drum from the generating tubes 19 being guided by the baffle into the top portion of the drum above the water level 16, the mixture passing over the top edge of the plate and downwardly in a series of channels defined between pairs of louvred baffles having inclined vanes 23, 24, the baffles extending between plate 15 and a second longitudinally disposed plate 25. Steam passes upwardly between the vanes as indicated at 28 whilst the water falls downwardly into the main body of water in the drum as shown by arrow 27.
