Abstract
664,019. Centrifugal separators. PETROCHEM PROCESS CO., Inc. Oct. 6, 1949 [May 5, 1949], No. 25705/49. Class 23 [Also in Group XIII] In the steam boiler described in Specification 580,671, [Group XIII], the upper vertical steam-andwater drum 20, Fig. 1, is fitted with a steam separator comprising an annular flanged baffle 36 which is so disposed below the main steam outlet 40 of the boiler and opposite the outlets 24 of the steamgenerating tubes 22 that the moistureladen steam from the latter is directed downwardly to flow therethrough to said outlet 40. A ring of helical vanes 43 is preferably provided within the baffle 36. The baffle may be formed of vertical, arcuate, channel-like sections 44, Fig. 3, bolted together at 46, and its lower edge, below the tube outlets 24, is defined by a helical rib 50 whereby centrifugal force is imparted to the flowing steam-and-water mixture.
