Abstract
1280440 Centrifugal separator GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE STERKRADE AG 19 April 1971 [17 Nov 1970] 27209/71 Heading B2P A centrifugal separator for separating a steam-water mixture comprises an ascending duct 1 the upper end of which is fitted with a ring of vanes 2 traversed by passages 7 for the removal of separated steam and surrounded by a collector casing 3 which is closed at 8 immediately above or at a short distance above the ring of vanes and is fitted with vanes 11 for deflection of separated liquid at a constriction 10 in a lower end portion of the annular space between the casing and the duct. The passages 7 are axial and are formed by pairs of adjacent vanes joined together to present a continuous outer surface. Between adjacent pairs of joined vanes are single vanes defining passages 6 which are open at the sides but are closed at the top and bottom. The passages 6 are so orientated that the steamwater mixture passing through them is imparted with a rotary motion as it enters the casing 3. The constricted annular space 10 is formed by the insertion of members 9. The vanes 11 may be fitted in or above the space 10. A water-seal trap 12 may be provided downstream of the vanes 11. The axial passages 7 through the ring of vanes 2 open into a steam extractor pipe 4 in which is inserted a guiding cone 5. For further drying the steam, a baffle plate 13 is mounted above the pipe 14 and is provided around its perimeter with a water interception gulley 14 to which are connected drain pipes 15.
