Abstract
664.447. Centrifugal-separators. COMBUSTION ENGINEERING - SUPER - HEATER, Inc. Feb. 25, 1949 [March 9, 1948], No. 5197/49. Class 23 In a steam separator comprising an upright primary tube 52, spinner means 54 in the tube, an upright steam collector sleeve 60 coaxial with the tube, and a skirt 56 surrounding the tube, separated water is led by an unobstructed passage at the top of the tube to an annular discharge passage between the tube and the skirt. The cross-sectional area of the sleeve is preferably 75 per cent to 90 per cent of that of the tube. Thirteen separators are mounted in two rows in a steam and water drum, the level of the water being at the middle of the skirt. Partially dried steam passes from the collector sleeve through packs of corrugated plates 68 to the steam space of the drum.
