747,170. Coke ovens. COPPEE & CIE., E. July 28, 1953 [Sept. 20, 1952], No. 36867/54. Divided out of 747,104. Class 51(2). In a regeneratively fired coke oven battery in which the regenerators are parallel to the coking chambers which widen towards the discharge side of the oven, the said regenerators are divided by vertical transverse partitions 7 into so many compartments 6 as there are in each heating wall independent groups of heating flues communicating with the compartments, the pair of compartments at each end 8 and 10 respectively being of greater horizontal cross-sectional area than the other compartments. The compartments 8, which are at the discharge side of the battery, are themselves of greater cross-sectional area then the compartments 10. In addition, each regenerator is divided into groups of cells 12 .... 16, in which the cells of each group are of equal size, but from one group to the next the horizontal cross-sectional area increases from the pusher side to the discharge side of the battery.
