Abstract
746,188. Reservoir pens. HARTLEY, REECE & CO., Ltd. Dec. 24, 1953 [June 10, 1953], No. 16033/53. Class 146(3) A ball-point pen comprises a transparent ink reservoir 4 secured to a ball-point tip 6, and a two-part barrel, the front part 1 of the barrel being transparent and detachable from the tip and reservoir. The rear part 3 of the barrel is attached to the part 1 by screw-threads 2, and may be of opaque plastic material. The tip 6 is milled at 7, is a press fit in the end of the part 1 and may be sealed to the part 1 by suitable material. The inner end of the part 1 may be closed, apart from an air-hole, by a plug of plastic or wax-like material. The reservoir 4 may be of capillary dimensions or larger, as shown, and provided with a plug follower resting on the ink column. In a modification, the tip 6 has screw-thread engagement with the end of the part 1, and the reservoir 4 extends substantially the full length of the barrel. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 573,747.
