Abstract

988,992. Reservoir marking instruments. BLAISDELL PENCIL CO. Aug. 12, 1963 [March 11, 1963], No. 31800/63. Heading B6P. The barrel 11 of the marking instrument 10 is provided with annular retaining shoulders 13 and 15 on opposite ends of the interior thereof. Slidably mounted within the barrel is a reservoir 20 which is movable between limiting positions defined by the annular shoulders 13 and 15. The interior of the reservoir is provided with a sponge-like porous material such as cellulose. A marking tip assembly 26 with a felt nib 35 closes off the open end of the reservoir 20 and is secured to the reservoir by welding. A relatively airtight tip covering means in the form of a double walled cap assembly 40 is provided which may be removably press fitted into either end of the barrel 11. When the cap 40 is pressed into the rear end of barrel 11, Fig. 2, the marking tip is projected into the writing position. When the cap is pressed into the tip end of the barrel 11, Fig. 5, the marking tip 35 is retracted and is also closed in a relatively airtight fit by the internal wall 41 of the cap 40.
