Abstract

781,214. Brushes. HANNEY, P. J. April 27, 1956 [April 28, 1955], No. 12257/55. Class 19. The tubular spigot 12 and sealing means 13 of a cap 10 of a reservoir brush are so proportioned that when the cap is secured on the the reservoir casing 1 the spigot 12 surrounds the brush 8 and enters through an orifice 14 of the nozzle 3 of the casing 1 to engage the stem 4 carrying the brush 8 to urge the stem clear of the orifice and the sealing means engages the nozzle 3 around the orifice 14. The stem 4 functions as a spring-loaded valve having a stiffness that permits of the normal pressure on the brush when in use lifting it from engagement with a seating surface in the nozzle 3. Liquid may flow to the brush when in use through one or more passages provided between the stem and the inner wall of the casing instead of through the annular space as shown. Agitating means such as flanges 5 on the stem 4 or a loose sleeve about the spring are provided.
