Abstract
745,991. Pipe joints. BLACKBURN & GENERAL AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and BELL, F.R. March 2, 1954, No. 6114/54. Class 99(1). In connecting a metallic tube to the casing 1 of a pump or other piece of apparatus, the end of the tube is belled as at 9, or otherwise enlarged, and retained in an enlarged portion 10 of a bore 11 in the casing by a ring or sleeve 13, e.g. of metal, entering the portion 10 ard bearing on the belled part 9 of the tube, the sleeve 13 being engaged by a resilient metal plate 14. Where a number of tubes are connected to the casing a single plate 14 is shaped to engage several sleeves 13. A resilient ring 12 may be disposed between the tube and the sleeve. The plate 14 may be provided with an aperture through which extends a projection 15 of the casing 1, and be held in position by a screw or split pin ; as shown, a pin 16 forced past a curved portion 18 of the plate and into the projection 15 is held in place by a bent-out flange 17 of the plate.
