Abstract

744,052. Phase-sense sensitive circuits. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and DALE, S. H. Sept. 15, 1953 [Sept. 15, 1952], No. 23123/52. Class 38 (4). The output voltage and polarity of a D.C. generator 2 is controlled in accordance with a D.C. signal applied to the control windings 17, 18 and 19, 20 of a pair of saturable reactors connected with resistors 6, 7 to form a balanced A.C. bridge modulator. The modulated A.C. output is amplified at 8. The output of the amplifier is supplied by a phase-splitting transformer 26 to a pair of opposed rectifiers 29, 30 supplying the generator field, demodulating transformers 34, 35 energized from the same A.C. source as the modulator bridge being connected in series with the rectifiers. In the event of amplifier failure, no signal is applied to the rectifiers 29, 30 and the circuit therefore fails to safety.
