Abstract
913,246. Protective arrangements. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Nov. 23, 1960 [Nov. 23, 1959], No. 39686/59. Class 38 (4). In a current limiting arrangement for an A.C. supply system comprising a transductor 8, 9, controlled by a saturable cement transformer 7 so that the supply cement cannot exceed the value at which the current transformer saturates, a booster transformer 6 increases the supply voltage to compensate for the voltage drop across the arrangement. An automatically controlled tapped supply transformer 2, 3, 5 may be included to provide a constant output voltage. The secondary winding of the current transformer 7 may be shunted by a magnetic amplifier, preferably of the auto-excited type, the control winding of which is energized by the difference between the output voltage and a reference voltage. In a further arrangement, two transductors each connected to a tapping on a supply transformer are employed, the excitations of these transductors being arranged differentially, so that the output voltage and supply power factor are maintained constant.
