Abstract

815,497. Automatic voltage-control systems. GRUBB, K. T., and GRUBB, B., [trading as STRUERS CHEMISKE LABORATORIUM, H.]. July 10, 1956, No. 21301/56. Class 38 (4). An automatic voltage-control system comprises a transformer 1 having a resistor 3 connected in its primary circuit and supplying, via secondary winding 10 and rectifier 9, a load connected across terminals 13, 14, and via secondary winding 6, and rectifier 8, a separate artificial load constituted by a valve 7 which is controllable in accordance with the voltage across terminals 13, 14. Part of the power supplied to the normal load circuit is provided by a separate transformer 19, of the saturable type, effecting partial control of the voltage, and rectifier 15. The heater 26 of a diode 25 is connected across terminals 13, 14, and variation of current through diode 25 due to voltage variation at 13, 14 is amplified by valve 32 and applied to the control grid of valve 7 thus changing the load on transformer 1 and altering the voltage drop across resistor 3 to compensate for the voltage change at 13, 14. The valves 25 and 32 may be replaced by transductors. Specification 739,301 is referred to.
