Abstract

858,978. Automatic voltage control systems. COLE Ltd., E. K. June 23, 1959 [June 24, 1958], No. 20134/58. Class 38 (4). In an automatic voltage control system of the series valve type, supplied via a rectifier from an A.C. supply, variation in the regulated output voltage due to change in the alternating heater voltage is compensated by resistors R4A, R5 connected in series with a reference valve N across the unregulated rectified supply. The resistor R5 is adjusted so that with a change in the alternating supply voltage the potential at the cathode of an amplifying valve V2 changes by an amount equal to the apparent change in potential difference between the cathode and grid of valve V2 due to change in the heater voltage.
