Abstract

743,218. Weather screens for motor cycles. BUSH, W. J. July 23, 1954 [May 18, 1953], No. 13846/53. Class 136 (1). A weather screen for a motor cycle curves upwardly and rearwardly in front of the rider and comprises main and extension arcuate screen members 1, 2, the member 2 being mounted to slide in a substantially concentric path around the member 1. The member 2 slides in inwardly facing channels 12 secured to the side edges of the member 1. In the fully raised position of the member 2, stops 14, 15 on the facing surfaces of the two members interengage, the members being secured by hand screws 16. The screen member 2 is further supported in extended position by a U-bracket 8 which is hinged to looped bars 4 secured at 5 to the member 1 and at 6 to handle bars 7 of the cycle. The arched slot 3 in the member 1 is arranged to straddle the rim of the head-lamp, the parts 1a on each side of the slot either having clips to engage the front fork of the cycle or being adapted for attachment to an adjustable cross-bar which fits behind the front fork. The member 2 has an inverted U-slot opening in the lower edge which in the collapsed position of the screen straddles the rim of the head-lamp. In the extended position of the screen, the upper portion of the U-slot provides a vision gap, a visor 18 being provided across the top of the slot.
